Mark Ponte is a historian and cultural researcher who has focused on the rich contributions of Surinamese musicians to the jazz scene in Amsterdam during the 1930s. He is the initiator of the project 'Jazzjaren', which highlights the cultural exchange that occurred in Amsterdam's jazz scene and its roots in migration. Recently, he has been conducting research for a new exhibition about the history of the Dutch Trading Company, commemorating its centenary.
