Marlos Vargas

Marlos Vargas is the leader of the Confederación de Nacionalidades Indígenas del Ecuador (Conaie), a significant organization representing the interests of indigenous peoples in Ecuador. He was recently in the news for condemning the government's failure to implement a constitutional ruling that supports the rights of the Huaorani and other indigenous groups regarding the conservation of their ancestral lands in the Yasuní region.
