Marta Syrko

Marta Syrko is a Ukrainian photographer renowned for her intimate portraits of veterans and civilians who have undergone amputations due to the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. Following the Russian invasion, she shifted her focus to highlighting the resilience and dignity of those affected by war, challenging societal perceptions of beauty and disability. Growing up with a blind grandfather, Marta developed a deep understanding of the marginalization faced by people with disabilities in post-Soviet society, which fuels her mission to promote change through her evocative and thought-provoking photography.
