Martin Giblin

Martin Giblin was a prominent Irish criminal defence lawyer known for his expertise in extradition law and high-profile cases, including representing Ian Bailey in his successful Supreme Court appeal against extradition to France regarding the 1996 murder of Sophie Toscan du Plantier. He was also involved in notable cases such as the wrongful conviction of Osgur Breathnach and the representation of the McBrearty family, whose treatment by gardaí sparked significant inquiries. Giblin, called to the Bar in 1974, became a senior counsel in 1996 and was active in various social justice causes throughout his career.
