Martin Karplus

Martin Karplus was an Austrian-born American theoretical chemist who won the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 2013 for his work on the development of multiscale models for complex chemical systems. Born in 1930, Karplus had a distinguished career that included significant contributions to molecular dynamics simulations and quantum chemistry. His research has had a lasting impact on the field, particularly through his co-development of the CHARMM software, which is widely used for molecular modeling.
