Mary Ann Healy
Mary Ann Healy is a biochemist who recently lost her claim for unfair dismissal after being employed on a special purpose contract at Children’s Health Ireland for 19 months. Healy alleged that her dismissal was a result of her grievance against her line manager, which she claimed caused her significant anxiety and humiliation. Despite her attempts to resolve the issue through mediation and an internal review, her complaints were not upheld, and her contract was terminated without prior notification of the employee she was backfilling for. Healy represented herself in the case at the Workplace Relations Commission, where her appeal was ultimately rejected.
