Mary Margaret

Mary Margaret was the first child of Maggie O’Connor, born in June 1943. Tragically, she passed away at just six months old while O’Connor was resident at St. Mary’s Home in Tuam. Her death and the circumstances surrounding it reflect the systemic issues faced by children born to unmarried mothers in Ireland during the 20th century, including high mortality rates and lack of proper burial records.
