Masaki Shibata

Dr. Masaki Shibata is a Tamarama lifesaver and water safety researcher who has been recognized for his innovative approach to integrating water education into Australia's English proficiency tests. His work, in collaboration with Royal Life Saving Australia and the UNSW Beach Safety Research Group, aims to address critical water safety knowledge gaps among new arrivals, particularly those born overseas, emphasizing the importance of understanding Australia's unique aquatic environments to prevent drowning fatalities.
