Massimo Biscardi

Massimo Biscardi, born in Monopoli in 1955, is the newly elected president of the Accademia di Santa Cecilia, Italy's premier symphonic institution. Known for his dynamic approach to music, he aims to engage a broader audience by introducing underappreciated Italian composers from the early 20th century and incorporating contemporary electronic music into the repertoire. Biscardi's vision includes revitalizing the relationship with celebrated conductor Riccardo Muti, who has not performed with the orchestra since 1980, and fostering a collaborative environment for musicians at the academy. His initiatives also encompass a summer concert series at the historic Massenzio venue and aims to bridge gaps with the Teatro dell’Opera for joint performances, showcasing his commitment to evolving the classical music landscape in Rome.
