Mate Laušić was born in Sisak in 1949 and completed his education in Zagreb. He graduated from the Higher School of Internal Affairs in 1976 and later from the Faculty of Criminalistics in 1990. Laušić served in the Ministry of Internal Affairs from 1971 until 1991, holding various operational and leadership roles. Notably, he was the head of security for the first President of Croatia, Franjo Tuđman, from May to December 1991. Following this role, he became the chief of the Military Police Administration in the Ministry of Defense, a position he held for eleven years, overseeing the operations and development of military police forces. He retired in 2002 with the rank of general, having been awarded numerous decorations for his service, including the Order of Nikola Šubić Zrinski and the Order of Ban Jelačić. Laušić was also an author and editor of several books on security and military police. His passing was recently reported in the news, marking the end of a significant chapter in Croatian security history.
