Mateus Marley Machado

Mateus Marley Machado, a 27-year-old Brazilian, has been arrested as a suspect in the stabbing murder of 19-year-old Portuguese national Manuel Gonçalves in Braga. Previously, Machado had a criminal record in the United States related to gang activities and was facing deportation from Portugal after his residency application was denied. The incident reportedly occurred following a conflict involving multiple individuals outside the Bar Académico, where Machado allegedly attacked Gonçalves, who was trying to protect women from being drugged. Following the murder, Machado attempted to flee Portugal, but authorities apprehended him in Castelo Branco.
