Matteo Maria Boiardo

Matteo Maria Boiardo was an Italian poet of the Renaissance, best known for his epic poem 'Orlando Innamorato' (Orlando in Love), which tells the story of the knight Orlando and his romantic adventures. Born around 1440 in the region of Emilia-Romagna, Boiardo's work is celebrated for its blend of chivalric romance and classical influences, incorporating elements of fantasy and myth. He is considered a precursor to Ludovico Ariosto, who continued the story of Orlando in his own famous work, 'Orlando Furioso'. Boiardo's poetry is characterized by its vibrant imagery, intricate language, and exploration of themes such as love, honor, and the complexities of human emotion.
