Matthías Jochumsson

Matthías Jochumsson was an influential Icelandic poet and playwright, best known for composing the lyrics to "Ó Guðs vors lands," the national anthem of Iceland. Born in 1835, he played a significant role in the Icelandic literary renaissance and is celebrated for his contributions to Icelandic culture and literature. Jochumsson's works often reflect themes of national identity and pride, and he was also involved in the political movements of his time.
