Maugdo Vásquez

Maugdo Vásquez was a renowned Guatemalan artist, born on June 14, 1959, in Guatemala and raised in Moyuta, Jutiapa. He developed a passion for art from a young age, encouraged by his mother, and eventually pursued formal education in the arts, studying at the Escuela de Artes Plásticas and the Instituto Imrich Fischmann. Throughout his career, he created impactful murals and was known for his involvement in promoting education and artistic expression, particularly during politically turbulent times in Guatemala. His death at the age of 66 was confirmed on March 3, 2023, and he is remembered fondly by the national art community.
