Mauricio Montero Chinchilla

Mauricio Montero Chinchilla, also known as 'El Chunche', is a former Costa Rican footballer celebrated for his role as a central defender. He gained notoriety for an infamous moment in Costa Rican football history known as 'La Jugada del Zoncho,' which occurred on June 16, 1985, when he missed a seemingly easy goal during a match against Asociación Deportiva Limonense. Born on June 1, 1964, Montero's career spanned several clubs, most notably Asociación Deportiva Ramonense and Liga Deportiva Alajuelense, and he represented Costa Rica in the 1990 FIFA World Cup. Despite the mishap, he remains a beloved figure in Costa Rican football, known for his powerful shots and charismatic personality.
