Max Cavalera is a Brazilian musician best known as the founding member and former lead vocalist and guitarist of the influential metal band Sepultura. He played a significant role in shaping the sound of the band during its most acclaimed period in the late 1980s and 1990s before leaving in 1996 due to personal and professional conflicts. Following his departure, Cavalera formed the band Soulfly and continued to be an influential figure in the metal genre.
