Max Schultze (1845-1926) was a notable German architect and artist, recognized for his work as the court architect to the House of Thurn and Taxis and as the planner of the Regensburg Castle in its modern form. Deeply connected to nature, he acquired various properties in 1906 to protect a unique rock landscape from destruction. Schultze later gifted this land to the city of Regensburg with the stipulation that it remain preserved as a piece of unspoiled nature, which led to its designation as a nature reserve in 1921.
