Maximo Castro is a 61-year-old Peruvian fisherman who made headlines after surviving 95 days lost at sea in the Pacific Ocean. He went missing on December 7, 2024, while fishing near Marcona, Peru, and endured extreme conditions, relying on a diet of insects, birds, and turtle blood for sustenance. His boat's engine failed shortly after he set out, and despite dwindling supplies and the absence of rainwater, he maintained hope for rescue, often praying for divine intervention. Castro was finally located by an Ecuadorian fishing crew on March 12, 2025, and was airlifted to safety, where he received medical treatment for dehydration and sunburn.
