
Mazen al-Hamada
Mazen al-Hamada is a prominent Syrian human rights activist known for his vocal opposition to the Assad regime. He joined protests against the government in 2011, which led to his multiple arrests and torture in various secret prisons. After being released in 2013, he sought asylum in the Netherlands, where he testified against regime officials. Al-Hamada returned to Syria in 2020 to rescue family members from detention but was re-arrested. Following the regime's fall in December 2024, his body was discovered at the Harasta military hospital, highlighting the ongoing human rights abuses in Syria.
