Meinrad Furrer

Meinrad Furrer is a Swiss theologian and an advocate for LGBTQ+ rights within the Catholic Church. He gained national attention in 2021 when he invited couples to receive blessings in response to a Vatican directive that prohibited the blessing of same-sex unions. Furrer has openly discussed his own experiences with the church's policies regarding homosexuality and has been a vocal critic of the discrimination faced by LGBTQ+ individuals within the church. He currently leads a team at the Peterskapelle in Lucerne and views recent changes in church policy regarding the private lives of clergy as a significant milestone for inclusivity.
