Melani W Setiawan

Melani W Setiawan, born on June 26, 1945, in Garut, Indonesia, is a retired doctor and a passionate advocate for the arts, known affectionately as the 'Mother of Artists'. Over the past five decades, she has fostered relationships with approximately 1,500 artists and art practitioners, documenting her encounters through photography. In June 2025, she published a three-volume book titled 'Indonesia Art World: dr Melani Setiawan’s Archive', celebrating her 80th birthday and chronicling the Indonesian art scene from 1977 to 2022.
