Melanie Díaz is a young Colombian resident of Tampa who left her photography job to focus on dumpster diving, a practice she began in 2023. She claims to have saved $50,000 in clothing and essential items by retrieving perfectly usable products from commercial and residential waste bins. Díaz prefers to donate items she does not keep, often sending them to Colombia to benefit others.
