Melis Sekmen

Melis Sekmen is a 31-year-old politician with Turkish roots who previously made a name for herself in the Green Party, advocating for climate protection and sustainability. She began her political career at a young age, becoming the chair of the Green Youth in Mannheim at 17 and later serving as the youngest member of the municipal council at 20. In 2021, she was elected to the Bundestag, where she garnered significant support in her hometown. Recently, Sekmen has made headlines by switching her political allegiance to the Christian Democratic Union (CDU), seeking to influence migration policy under the leadership of Chancellor candidate Friedrich Merz.
