Meri E. Brunkov

Meri E. Brunkov, born in 1961 in Portland, Oregon, is a distinguished immunologist known for her groundbreaking research on regulatory T cells and autoimmune diseases. She received her doctorate in molecular biology from Princeton University in 1991 and conducted pivotal research at Celltech Chiroscience in Bothell, Washington. Her discoveries, particularly related to the foxp3 gene, have greatly advanced the understanding of immune tolerance and its implications for treatments of autoimmune diseases and organ transplantation. In 2025, she was awarded the Nobel Prize in Medicine for her contributions to the field.
