Mervyn Sloman

Mervyn Sloman is the owner and founder of The Book Lounge, an independent bookstore in Cape Town, South Africa, which has become a cultural hub since its opening in December 2007. Despite launching amidst a looming global financial crisis, Sloman's vision was to create a space that fosters community around literature, offering a diverse selection of books and hosting events that engage local readers and authors alike. He also co-founded the Open Book Festival in 2011, which aims to promote local writers and address important social issues through literature.
