Michał Bałasz

Michał Bałasz was a Polish architect of Belarusian descent, born on January 22, 1923, in Vilnius. He played a significant role in the field of sacred architecture in Poland, particularly known for his designs of Orthodox and Catholic churches in the Podlaskie region. He began his architectural career after completing his education in Poznań and Gdańsk, and he served as the city architect in Białystok. Bałasz's notable projects included the renovation of St. Nicholas Church and the reconstruction of the monastery church in Supraśl. His contributions to architecture were recognized until his passing on July 18, 2023.
