Michael Batista Tavares

Michael Batista Tavares, affectionately known as Mick, is a 53-year-old paraplegic resident of Rocinha. Despite facing significant mobility challenges due to polio, he creatively utilizes a skateboard and the assistance of others to navigate the steep terrain of the favela. Mick is a well-known figure in the community, embodying resilience and community support.
