Michael Connolly

At 50 years old, Michael Connolly made history by becoming the oldest recruit in the Garda Síochána's 2025 graduating class, fulfilling a lifelong ambition inspired by his family's legacy. Raised in Aghyaran, Co Tyrone, Connolly had previously worked at a healthy living centre and officiated as a League of Ireland referee, experiences that equipped him with the physical fitness and composure necessary for his new role in law enforcement. His acceptance into the Garda training college followed a recent change in recruitment age, allowing him to pursue a dream that had seemed unattainable.
