Michael Hickey

Michael Hickey is a fisheries officer from Carrick-on-Suir, Ireland, who gained attention after being violently assaulted during a seagoing salmon protection patrol in 1993. The attack left him hospitalized for 15 days and confined to a wheelchair for a period. Hickey later became a whistleblower, alleging corruption among some of his colleagues, which contributed to a tense atmosphere between fisheries officers and local fishermen.
