Michael Packard

Michael Packard is an American commercial lobster diver who gained international attention in June 2021 when he was briefly swallowed by a humpback whale off the coast of Provincetown, Massachusetts. During a diving expedition, Packard found himself inside the mouth of the whale for approximately 30 seconds before being spat out unharmed. His remarkable encounter highlighted the often surprising interactions between humans and marine life, and Packard's experience has been shared widely as a cautionary tale about the importance of being aware of one's surroundings while engaging in water sports.
