Michael Sam

Michael Sam is a former American football player who gained national attention when he became the first openly gay player to be drafted by an NFL team in 2014. Although he did not have a lengthy career in the league, his courage to come out helped pave the way for greater acceptance of LGBTQ+ athletes in professional sports.
