Michael Usange was a retired school director and internally displaced Tiv elder who fled the violence of the Jukun-Tiv crisis. He spent the last years of his life in exile, longing for his ancestral home in Chiina, Taraba State. After his death in 2025, his remains were exhumed and burned by suspected ethnic militias, highlighting the ongoing brutality and ethnic tensions in the region.
