Mihal Valitsky

Mihal Valitsky, born in 1746 in Novogrudok, was a notable Polish-Lithuanian nobleman and card player who gained wealth and prominence in the courts of Europe. He purchased a palace in Grodno in 1793 and became a philanthropist, supporting the University of Vilnius and students with the last names Mickiewicz and Valitsky. His life, characterized by adventure and intrigue, has been the subject of recent historical literature.
