Mikaela Benkhaus
Mikaela Benkhaus is a pioneering German engineer and the first wheelchair user to travel to space. After suffering a severe spinal injury in a mountain biking accident seven years ago, she fulfilled her dream of space travel aboard a Blue Origin flight, leaving her wheelchair on Earth and experiencing weightlessness for the first time. At 33 years old, Benkhaus is also part of the European Space Agency's graduate training program and aims to advocate for greater accessibility in space and on Earth, hoping to inspire others with disabilities.
