Mikan is a former stray tomcat who has gained fame as the feline stationmaster of the Ciaotou Sugar Refinery Station in Kaohsiung, Taiwan. Rescued by employees of the Kaohsiung Rapid Transit Corp (KRTC) in 2021, Mikan has since become a beloved mascot, contributing significantly to the corporation's public image and revenue, with earnings estimated at approximately NT$40 million (US$1.27 million) over the last two years. Recently, Mikan was honored with tiger god robes by Chaotian Temple, celebrating his role as a guardian deity of children and pets, and will participate in the temple's annual procession to promote public transportation.
