Mike Deranger is an Indigenous entrepreneur and the owner of Derantech Welding Ltd., a company specializing in mechanical work and heavy equipment repair in the Fort McMurray region. Recently, he has been in the news for setting up a teepee at a hunger strike to protest against an Indigenous procurement system that he believes fails to promote true economic reconciliation and pushes Indigenous business owners out of the market.
