Mike Maynard
Mike Maynard was a talented art tutor and stroke survivor who dedicated his life to helping others, particularly those recovering from mental health and addiction issues. Originally from Folkestone, Kent, he served in the UK army and worked as a consulting electrical engineer before moving to New Zealand, where he spent over two decades with the Turning Point Trust in Tauranga. Known for his kindness and creativity, Mike turned to art as a form of expression following a severe stroke in 2018, producing a collection of vibrant artwork that was later exhibited to benefit the Stroke Foundation. He is remembered for his caring nature, love for cooking, and the special bond he shared with his partner, Elly.
