Mildred Hill

Mildred Hill was an American composer and pianist, best known for co-writing the melody of 'Good Morning to You,' which later became the universally recognized tune for 'Happy Birthday to You.' Along with her sister Patty Hill, she created the song in 1893 as a simple classroom greeting for young children, which unexpectedly evolved into a song celebrated at birthday gatherings around the world. Their contribution to American music was overshadowed by complex copyright issues, particularly as their original melody became entangled in a protracted legal battle over the ownership of the birthday lyrics.
