Recently, she discovered that she was among the thousands saved by the Portuguese diplomat Aristides de Sousa Mendes, whose actions allowed many to escape persecution. This revelation added a significant chapter to her life story, as her name is now commemorated at the memorial in Vilar Formoso, honoring those rescued by Mendes during the war.
