Miriam Marisa Beatriz Choyns
Miriam, born in 1957 in Buenos Aires, Argentina, is a 67-year-old artist residing in Hod Hasharon, Israel. A twin, she grew up in a well-off Jewish family with a social worker mother and an accountant father. Following political turmoil in Argentina during the 1960s, her family was forced to emigrate to Israel, where they initially settled in a kibbutz. Adjusting to life in Israel was challenging, but she eventually found her place through sports and art. After studies in visual arts and teaching, she established a ceramics studio and a social initiative for new immigrant women. Following the loss of her husband and father, she found new purpose in creating mandalas with evacuees. Recently, she faced the emotional challenge of her son moving to Austin, Texas, during a tumultuous time in Israel, prompting her to reflect on familial ties and personal choices.
