His notable works include 'Il primo giorno d'inverno,' 'I corpi estranei,' and 'Isabelle,' the latter of which won Best Screenplay at the Montreal World Film Festival. He founded the production companies Officina Film and Strani Film, collaborating closely with his partner, screenwriter Giuditta Tarantelli. Locatelli passed away after a brief illness, leaving a significant impact on contemporary Italian cinema.
