Mitchell Van Heyningen

Mitchell Van Heyningen is the founder and president of Streamline Integrated Energy (SIE), where he has been instrumental in developing the first utility-grade waste-to-energy plant in the Dominican Republic. His innovative project aims to tackle the dual crises of waste management and electric power shortages in the country by converting solid waste into clean energy. Despite the significant potential of this initiative to improve environmental conditions and create jobs, Van Heyningen has faced bureaucratic challenges that have stalled the project's progress for over five years.
