Mitrabha Guha is a 23-year-old chess prodigy from Kolkata, West Bengal, who has achieved the prestigious title of India's 72nd Chess Grandmaster. His journey in chess began at a young age, with his father introducing him to the game when he was just two and a half years old. He started competing in championships as early as 2004 and has set numerous records in his career. Despite financial challenges, including his mother taking a gold loan to fund his first international trip, Mitrabha has persevered and honed his skills, practicing chess for 8-10 hours daily for two decades. In addition to his chess career, he is currently pursuing an MBA in HR and Management and works for Kolkata Metro Railways. He gained public attention recently while appearing on the popular quiz show Kaun Banega Crorepati 16, where he discussed his experiences and the historical significance of the Kohinoor diamond.
