Mitsuo Nakamura

Mitsuo Nakamura, born on October 19, 1933, is a distinguished Japanese cultural anthropologist who has dedicated over five decades to studying Islam in Indonesia. He began his research in 1970 while studying at Cornell University and has produced influential works, notably 'The Crescent Arises Over the Banyan Tree,' which examines the Muhammadiyah movement.
