Dr. Mohamed Al-Kamel, who passed away at the age of 60, was the son of the sister of Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb, the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar. He spent a significant part of his career as a pediatrician in a Gulf country and lived in Luxor, Egypt. His recent death led to a public funeral attended by hundreds in his hometown of Qena, where he was laid to rest in the family cemetery.
