Mohamed Ali Kibao

Mohamed Ali Kibao was a prominent member of the secretariat of the main opposition party Chadema in Tanzania. He became a symbol of the ongoing political turmoil and repression in the country after he was found murdered in September 2023, with his face doused in acid. His death, alongside a series of other violent incidents, has sparked widespread condemnation from human rights activists and raised concerns about the increasing violence against opposition figures under the current government led by President Samia Suluhu Hassan.
