activist Morocco

Mohamed Lamin Ragueb is a former Sahrawi refugee who was born in 1973 in the community of Atfariti near Smara, Western Sahara. At the age of six, he and his family were forcibly taken to the Tindouf camps in Algeria by the Polisario Front, where he spent over two decades living under harsh conditions. Ragueb pursued his education in the camps and later became a teacher. In 2006, he returned to Morocco after receiving official permission, and he has since worked to promote the cause of repatriation for other Sahrawis still in Tindouf. He founded the Association des rapatriés pour le développement intégré and has been involved in advocating for human rights and the autonomy of Western Sahara under Moroccan sovereignty. Recently, he was in the news for highlighting the significance of a royal call for Sahrawis to consider returning to Morocco, which resonated deeply with families in both Tindouf and Morocco.
