Mohammed Abdullah al-Ismaili
Mohammed Abdullah al-Ismaili was a municipal official in the Alawite village of Arza, north-west Syria. He was known for his trust in the new Syrian authorities and his belief in their ability to maintain safety in the region. Tragically, he was killed in a violent backlash against Alawite civilians, alongside 24 of his neighbors, during a wave of revenge attacks following the ousting of Bashar al-Assad.
