Mohammed Hussein Sorge

Mohammed Hussein Sorge is the founder of Unity Arabic Gum, a Khartoum-based company that supplied global ingredients makers with gum arabic before the onset of the Sudanese civil war. He fled to Egypt after the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces seized his entire gum supply in 2023, and he has since been approached by traders offering lower-priced gum from neighboring countries, raising concerns about its legality and sourcing.
