Mohammed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani

Mohammed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani is the President of Mauritania, having assumed office in August 2019. A retired general and former chief of staff of the Mauritanian armed forces, he is known for his focus on security and development in the country. His leadership has been marked by efforts to combat terrorism in the Sahel region and to promote economic growth and social stability.
